“Pamodzi” means ‘together’ in Nyanja!

Pamodzi Zambia e.V. is committed to the education and training of disadvantaged children and young people in Zambia's capital Lusaka. This is achieved primarily through individual sponsorships and personal support.

The entire work is 100% donation-based and runs on a voluntary basis with employees in Germany and Zambia.

Light for Future School

In addition to individual sponsorships for children, we also selectively support a school in Lusaka, the Light For Future School. Here, over 300 children from Year 1 to Year 7 go to school free of charge and receive a hot meal every day - all funded by donations.

Like all children in the world, children in Zambia have a right to education and to develop their personality. School education equips children and young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to lead a more self-determined life in our globalized world.

Would you like to support a child?

Send a child to school with a monthly or annual donation! The sponsorship covers all school fees, a uniform, rucksack and shoes for the child as well as the necessary teaching materials. All sponsored children are in close contact with our local staff and are regularly visited by them at school and at home. As all members of Pamodzi Zambia e.V. work on a purely voluntary basis, there are no administrative costs and 100% of your money is used locally!

Initial interest

Get in touch with us by e-mail! Let us know when you would like to start supporting a child and whether it should be a primary school child (€5/month) or a secondary school pupil (€15/month). We also need to know whether you would like to donate monthly or annually and when the sponsorship should start.

Information about the child

If you do not want an anonymous sponsorship, you will receive a digital profile with a photo of a child from our waiting list. If you really want to take on the sponsorship, confirm this to us by e-mail and we will inform our partners in Zambia as well as the child and its family.

Donations and start of school

As soon as we receive the first donation from you on our association account, we forward the money to Zambia and the sponsorship officially starts. Our partners inform the child and his or her family and look for a new school place on site and provide school materials or pay the fees for the existing school attendance with immediate effect.

Contact to Zambia

Write a letter to your sponsored child and tell them something about yourself, including a photo if you like. This way, the child and his or her family know who is supporting them and the money from Germany gets “a face”. If we German members of the association are visiting Zambia, we are always happy to take letters with us. Otherwise, you can send them by e-mail at any time; our partners will print them out. And you are sure to get a reply!

Who is behind it?

Pamodzi Zambia e.V. is a small non-profit association based in North Hesse. The first sponsorships started back in 2017, at that time through a larger umbrella organization. Since 2023, we have been a registered, non-profit association with eight founding members, all of whom work on a voluntary basis.

Real support that arrives quickly where it is needed is only possible through close cooperation with people on the ground! As we operate from Germany and can only fly to Zambia occasionally for visits, we have reliable partners in Zambia who live there, know life in Lusaka and are always available for the children. Parallel to the founding process of Pamodzi Zambia e.V., our Zambian friends also founded an association in close communication with us in spring 2022: Ife Pamodzi Christian Organization, our Zambian sister association, so to speak.
